Sheetz Springfield
Over the last decade, T.C. Holzen, Inc. has been fortunate enough to work for many of the gas station companies in the area. Recently, Sheetz has been one of our big customers. Working for ATCS, we provide a semi-turnkey product and are in charge of site development which sometimes includes asphalt and concrete pavement. On this particular project we did all of the above. The Sheetz Truck Stop, at the I-70/St. Rt. 41 interchange, had a total of 200,000+ cubic yards of earth moved, 3,800 linear feet of storm main, 1,400+ linear feet of sanitary main and lateral, and nearly 2,400 linear feet of water main and service line. This project also featured a 5,300 square foot Redi-Rock big block retaining wall, 27,500 square yards of asphalt pavement, 4,800 linear feet of concrete curb, and 83,000 square feet of concrete pavement. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team, this project stayed on schedule through the winter months and turned out to be another great project completed by TCH.
Greene Storage Yard
Being selected as the General Contractor for this storage yard project was a great opportunity for our company. As far as monetary value, this project is the largest that we have ever taken on. Touting two 20,000 square-foot pre-engineered metal buildings, and around 12 acres of stoned storage lot, this project had a little bit of everything. The majority of the work on this project was self-performed, however we teamed up with a couple great contractors for the electrical work and the steel building erection. In total, nearly 100,000 cubic yards of earth was moved, we poured over 6,000 cubic yards of concrete, installed a 5,300 square-foot Redi-Rock retaining wall, installed nearly 5,000 linear feet of storm main, installed over 30,000 tons of stone, and surrounded the site with a 12’ tall concrete fence for increased security. This project took about 16 months from start to finish and the customer was very pleased with the end result.
Substation Construction
T.C. Holzen, Inc. has become a trusted contractor for substation construction in Western Ohio. Over the last decade, we have been a part of over 30 substation projects, many of which were either expansions to existing subs or constructing complete new substations. Due to the sensitivity of the country’s electrical infrastructure grid, we are not at liberty to share names and locations of this work, however, we still wanted to highlight it, as it is a large portion of our company’s yearly revenue. Like our civil site development side of the business, we take these substation sites from wooded lots or farm fields and turn them into stoned lots. We self-perform all of the concrete foundations, fence installation, conduit, grounding, steel erection and more. The versatility of our workforce allows us to complete these substation projects faster than most while still holding safety as our top priority. We are greatly appreciative to our customers for allowing us to be a part in all of the substation work over the years and look forward to more continued success in the future.
Reserve at honey creek
This project is our first, of hopefully many, residential subdivision projects. We were awarded the entire site development package for Phases 1a and 1b, which is a 40-acre portion of a 136-acre planned subdivision. Phase 1a and 1b totaled 350,000+ cubic yards of earth moved, 7,400 linear feet of storm main, 4,700 linear feet of sanitary main, and 5,700 linear feet of water main, plus water and sewer laterals for 106 future house lots. The project also has 10,250 linear feet of concrete curb and nearly 5,000 linear feet of asphalt roadway. We would like to thank our team, our subcontractors, and our vendors for making this project a great success. We would also like to thank D.R. Horton for allowing us the opportunity to showcase our skills!
